About Sound Healing!
Sound has been utilized in various cultures for thousands of years as a tool for healing. Whether through the use of mantras as with the Hindis, the Icaros (medicine melodies) of various Indigenous peoples from Central and South America, or Pythagoras' use of interval and frequency, these various techniques all have the same intention: to move us from a place of imbalance to a place of balance.

How does it work?
Sound helps to facilitate shifts in our brainwave state by using entrainment. Entrainment synchronizes our fluctuating brainwaves by providing a stable frequency which the brainwave can attune to. By using rhythm and frequency, we can entrain our brainwaves and it then becomes possible to down-shift our normal beta state (normal waking consciousness) to alpha (relaxed consciousness), and even reach theta (meditative state) and delta (sleep; where internal healing can occur).

Sound healing is one of the oldest and most natural forms of healing known to man.  It uses the power of sound to restore one’s mind, body and spirit back to a state of balance. The harmonic vibrations from the instruments have a deep penetrating effect on the receiver, promoting healing and well-being.

The sound waves from the instruments entrain the brain to move into the deeper Alpha and Theta brain wave frequencies, inducing a deep meditative and peaceful state. As human beings who are comprised mainly of liquid, these vibrations deeply penetrate our bodies, moving through our tissues and organs. The sound resonates directly into our cellular memory releasing blockages and creating a profound sense of peace and relaxation.

This is not just an auditory experience—it’s like receiving a full body sound massage.  Most people fall into a state of deep relaxation, It’s a pathway to meditation, without knowing how to meditate. The sounds act as the focal point, reducing and eliminating mind chatter, leading to a release of deep rooted tensions and emotional blocks. Many people emerge from the experience feeling lighter, more in balance, refreshed, and rejuvenated.

The Instruments

Following are some of the instruments used in intuitive sound during our sound baths:

The Tibetan Gong
An ancient instrument where brain wave patterns change to allow the person listening to move into a meditative state. Some sounds will give a deeper sense of peace and relaxation. Sometimes the effect can be quite cathartic. This is usually about where the persons psyche  i
The Gong is one of man’s most powerful and oldest transformational and therapeutic instruments. It has been used for ritual, ceremony, prayer, and meditation since the Bronze Age.

The Gongs are made from a brass known as nickel silver to a formula of 63% copper, 25% zinc and 12% nickel.
They belong to the oldest and most important musical instruments of South East Asia. Their origins may be traced back to the second millennium B.C., but it is assumed that the gong is much older. In Chinese history, gongs are mentioned around 500 A.D., attributed to a nation called HSI YU between Tibet and Burma during the reign of Emperor Hsuan Wu.

“The gong is known as an instrument of transformational power. It is a tool by which we are engulfed in total sound, and through our intuition, we are brought back to optimum health and balance... It is the unique quality of a gong’s resonance that integrates diverse elements into a power of synergy, or functional harmony. We also call the tone produced by the gong a “feeling tone,” because we feel it in our body, as well as hear it.”

Tibetan Singing Bowls
Tibetan Singing Bowls have been used for centuries for healing and meditation purposes.  The sounds produced by the Tibetan Bowls have a relaxing hypnotic effect on the brain, slowing brain waves and inducing a deep meditative state. These bowls are mainly contain bronze alloy of copper and tin.

Shamanic Drums
Shaman Drums can be described as instruments used as part of a ritual or ceremony in which an altered state of consciousness can be attained.

Practitioners believe that this can help them form a bridge to a more spiritual place.

Crystal Bowls
The use of tuned, deep-vibration instruments such as crystal bowls during healing and meditation can balance dissonant frequencies and bring them back into harmony.

Music and chanting have been used for thousands of years to heal and energize the body, mind and emotions.
